I’m thinking of going to New Zealand. Are there tropical-ish beaches there at all for kicking back and relaxing after doing adventurous things?

Have you heard of this place? http://www.tongarirocrossing.org.nz/ The winning photo of the photo contest was taken there. It’s not a beach but it looks pretty amazing.

Hi Bravekenny- Excellent choice New Zealand. There are few tropical beaches and they are all on the top portion of the North Island. The beaches in Paihia (bay of islands) are pretty spectacular. The town of Paihia itself is very small-not much going on. A few hostel and plenty of green land to hike up and sand to lay on. Then there’s the Coromandel-white sandy beaches and unspoiled terrain. Only an 1hr or 2 from Auckland.

The beaches on the South Island are great-but not as Tropical. If you just want to chill-then I say still with Pahoa-which also has very cool hostels. The drive from Auckland is between 4-6 hours depending on traffic. I spent a year traveling all over New Zealand. If you have any other questions just let me know.

Cheers,

the beaches aren’t “tropical” unless you go to cook islands (still apart of new zealand) the climate is more temperate. though there are of course beaches and such but i just thought you should know that even on the north island in northland area there aren’t going to be that sort of thing. but there are still some amazing beaches. check out 90mile beach up in northland (above auckland, the beach stretches for 90 miles). cormandal or bay of plenty area and gisborne are more popular areas to try. good luck and new zealand is an amazing place to visit or live
