Question

on 11/18/07, blisterbanter asked about Taiwan:

I have a flight booked.. LAX— Bangkok. It goes through Taipei.
I want to hop off in Taipei and hang out there for a week, then get a one-way to Bangkok.

I still want to return on my normal Bangkok—LAX flight. Will this work??

Hi Blisterbanter-Sounds like a great trip. Nope this won’t work. If you don’t take your original ticketed route-the airline will cancel the rest of the ticket. If you bought a flexible ticket that allows a stop in Taipei, just check with whomever you bought the ticket from and do a date change. If your not able to change your ticket don’t get off in Taipei. Travel Safe :)

Hey blisterbanter,
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this situation probably won’t work. If you “no show” your connection in Taipei, the airline will automatically cancel the rest of your flights.

Did you book a student ticket with a travel advisor? Many of our student tickets offer free stops en-route, although you typically cannot add a stop once your ticket has been purchased.

If you did book it with STA Travel, call your travel advisor or if you booked it online call the 1-800 number and see if you can add a stop; but don’t get your hopes up too high.

If you can’t, we will get you an inexpensive roundtrip in and out of BKK or where ever to Taipei.

GOODLUCK!
