I’m planning on traveling for two months to one of three locations:
India
Indochina
Southern Africa
My question is: Besides airfare what would the estimated total cost for two months of backpacking be in each local? I realize it can vary a lot, but assuming I go budget all the way.
Btw, this is not the easiest site to navigate.

I am going all over Southeast Asia from Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, India, and even China for a total of 6 months and I am living on an extreme budget. However I am going to cough out the money for scuba diving, sky diving, white water river rafting, and other activities. So this requires me to have a little bit more money. I plan on going with $9,000 after flights costs. Your trip of two months would require at least $2000 after flight costs. Hope this helps and if you are out there, when I am, hit me up.
I also agree with you this site is hard to navigate.
It’d be a little bit of process to get a complete quote for you. So I would recommend working with an experience booking agent to get a rough idea of how much you would need to spend. I spent two months each in both China and India. During each of these trips, I spent under $2,000 after flight costs. After the train travel, hotels, food, and other core costs, it turns out the most expensive piece is for attractions and adventures. I would agree with Samnada, though, that $2K should be sufficient for 2 months in most Asian countries.
