Question

on 2/26/08, anomie22 asked about France:

I’ll be in Paris this summer for two night with my mums.
Ordinarily, I’d be content in a hostel…but my old lady is getting on, so I think a hotel of some description is in order.

Could anyone recommend a decent(ish) hotel in Paris that I won’t have to pay hand over fist for?

Ta.

To save some cash, I’ve recently stayed at Hotel Perfect in the Pigalle/Monmartre area of the city. It was a fun hotel. Some guests kept their doors open, like in a hostel. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, like a B&B. Breakfast was included (baguette w/ butter and jam and coffee). One of the coolest features was a vending machine that had Heineken for 1 Euro.
It is extremely basic, but the bathrooms look like they’ve been redone recently. Do not expect much. It is clean and safe and bare-bones. You can walk to 2 different metro lines w/i 5 minutes. I would definitely stay there again. The property is usually between $65- 90 USD/night. Super cheap!
If it sounds too basic and you can spend more, let me know. There are many more options.

Well, give us a call because we can get you into the Altona and the Hotel Perfect – both good suggestions.

I took my mom to Prague two years ago and we stayed in a hostel – the key is to stay in a private room, and avoid ones reknowned for partying. I would recommend the Absolute Hostel, which would be $131/room/night in a twin with a bathroom, breakfast included.

However, the Altona and the Perfect are less expensive in this case – $115 and $95 respectively for the same thing. Give me a call and I can book that for you!
