I am going to be in Rome and want to travel to Morocco around March or April. I was wondering whats the best way to get there and also the best way to make the most out of just a weekend there. What to see, where to go and also if there were any guided trips that were just for the weekend. Any and all suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

Hey Ashley,
Given the length of time you have to be in Morrocco, I would deffinantely reccommend flying. I would also recommend you fly into Marrakech, even though you will have to stop along the way. Marrakech will keep you entertained all day. You can hang out in the Medina (or old city) section where the huge outdoor markets are. There you will find snake charmers, storytellers, acrobats and food vendors of all kinds. The two dishes you must try while you are there, are couscous (the national dish) and tajine, which is a traditional kind of morrocan stew. If you are into spicy things get some harissa from one of the vendors to add to your couscous; it has more than a kick!
You can also venture away from the Medina, and rent a bicycle to explore the other areas of the city. You can check out museums, mosques or go shopping.
At night if you are tired from your day you can go to the cinema; but if you catch your second wind, you can go to one of several nightclubs: from dramatic high end, to techno clubs, to salsa bars.

However, if you have a change of heart and decide you can go to Morroco for more than just a weekend I would deffinately say run with it. We offer a few guided group adventure ranging from 8-15 days with 3 different companies. These would allow you to see the differences between some of the cities, the variations in landscapes from mountains to forest to desert, along with a rich cultural history of Berbers and ancient Romans, plus some of the most unique architecture in northern Africa.

Try to plan your trip for March or early April as the temperature is still pleasent, and there tend to be heavy sandstorms as the month of April goes on. Good luck planning this. Email me or call if you have any more questions.

Sounds like an awesome trip! I don’t know of any guided weekend tours in Morocco, but I do know that you should stay at the IBN Batouta in Marrakech! Combining Moroccan and modern style, the IBN Batouta is an attractive hotel situated in Hivernage. It provides safe, clean and comfortable accommodation.

Hivernage is one of the residential areas of the New Town where you will find many other hotels due to its convenient location between the Medina and Gueliz in the New Town. It is about a 20 minute walk to the Medina and the incredible Djemaa el-Fna which comes alive at night with food stalls, musicians and snake charmers.

Sounds awesome! We can also arrange an airport transfer for you to the hotel and back. Let me know if you would like to book this hotel for your stay there!

Well, the best way to get there is to fly… you can do that with direct flights on Alitalia into Casablanca.

There are some really cool long-weekend trips… one is run by Imaginative Traveller (a really cool company) out of Marrakech. You can spend a day or two in Casablanca and then take a train to Marrakech… They have you visit La Roseraie, which is a mountain spa retreat (ooh la la!) in the Atlast mountains. There are plenty of chances to do some hiking or visit Berber villages there. They’ll also put you up in a riad in the city, so you can explore the markets and sights… good stuff! This trip is 6 days long…
