Ghats on the Ganges

A morning boat ride up the Ganges.

Taj Mahal

Seeing the Taj Mahal was completely unreal. Here’s an excerpt from my journal: First off, I practically SKIPPED into the entrance at the Taj, that’s how excited I was. We weren’t allowed any bags, so we locked them up at this hotel and made our way up the road to the entrance, and onto the skipping portion of our story. So, I was sprinting in, knocking children and the elderly over, and IT almost stopped me dead in my tracks. THE TAJ. I am at the Taj Mahal. THE TAJ MAHAL. one of the most recognizable and important buildings in history. I am really here. And i am totally going to touch it. And I totally did.

The Red Fort, Agra

The Red Fort was also the home and later prison of the man (Shah Jahan) who built the Taj Mahal.

Red Fort

And yes, the grass was that green!

Train to Chanderi

One of the many long, hot and vinyl seat covered trains on the way to Chanderi.

More Chanderi

Everywhere we went in this crazy little village, we had an entourage. We were constantly getting waved at; I felt almost like a celebrity.

Khajuraho

More kama sutra temples.
Did you know that in the entire temple complex, erotic sculpture only makes up 2% of the relief work done on the structures?

Panna National Park

If you look closely, you can see the STA travel luggage tag!

Thali dinner at Panna

I swear to god, indian food is one of my favourite types, but 17 straight days of thali is enough to make anyone dream of grilled cheese~!

Henna in Allahabad

My hand is on the left. It took the artist only 10 minutes to do, cost only 50 cents, and lasted for nearly a month!

Varanasi

A few young monks stuck in the same traffic jam I was sweating it out in.

Even More Ganges!

Did you know that there are dolphins in the Ganges? I didn’t believe it either when I read that in a Lonley planet guide book until I saw one! They’re HUGE, dark brown and blind. Crazy!
