Bangkok is an amazing city! Koh Saun Road is a fun place to go for a night out. The streets are crowded with travelers, noodle stands, and vendors selling everything from dried cockroaches to buckets of margaritas. After exploring the chaos in the street head to a bar called “Gulliver’s Travels” where you’ll find yourself meeting people from all over the world! Watch out for the drinks served in Buckets!
In Bangkok you’ll make new friends from all over the world. Nothing brings people together like a good Thai Beer! :)
Strolling through the markets of Bangkok is the best way to get to know the city … the pineapple shakes in a bag are just an added bonus!
Wat Phra Kaew is the largest Buddhist temple in Bangkok. Words will never describe what it was like to experience such an amazing place. It’s a place!
No need to pay to get into a bar when in Bangkok … Drinks are served right on the street … along with toasted cockroaches!
In Thailand the best way to get around is via Tuk Tuk … I wouldn’t reccomend haggling the driver into letting 6 people in at once!
The South of Thailand is beautiful! I absolutely loved it there. ... cliff jumping … sunset bars … 11am pina coladas … diving … rock climbing … what’s not to love!?
The North of Thailand is unrivaled by the rest of the country. Pai was one of my favorite towns … morning yoga, afternoon mouintain biking, jungle treks, hill tribes, cool air … I could go on!
Trekking in the jungles of Thailand is quite an adventure … expect to pass wild elephants! ...seriously!
A vist to Mae Hong Son is also a must. The Karen Hilltribes reside on the Burma Thai borders in this area. You can visit the refuge camps, and make a donation to help these people. We rented a jeep and ventured out there to learn about these people. It’s an experience I’ll never forget!
We sat and listed to this woman play her guitar for an hour … experiences like this are what keeps me traveling!
We hiked for 8 hours to find Ma Yen Waterfall … it was worth it once we got there, but we did have to hike through some pretty heavy stuff!
Kanchanaburi is such a cool place to go. When there you can play with tigers, see the bridge, hike Erawan Falls, and stay in cabins on the water.
At Erawan falls there are 7 levels of waterfalls to get to … you may be tempted to turn back half way through … but these girls refused to!
Want to give back on your travels? Teach English! It’s a great way to stay in a country for an extended amount of time … Ask an STA advisor about i-to-i … they have incredible work and volunteer opportunities all over the world.
Could my students be any cuter!?
