Sakado, Japan! This was my first night in Sakado, which is in the Sataima Prefecture about an hour or so from Tokyo. It is a town of 100,000 people, but you would never know it! Imagine the sound of the distant trains (like a cow bell), chiming and the clicking of spokes on 1930’s bicycles. Those are the sounds that I experienced during this sunset.
YAMOS (cheers in Greek) This is an on-the-house shot of shnaps after a great greek dinner. The place was by the Aegean sea on Mykonos. It was very rustic and comfortable. People around us shared their wine and stories until late into the night. This is where I learned that true hospitality is only a round of shots away. Thank you for the memories.
My friend Lisa and I bought sourdough bread, brie cheese and some wine. We took it to the park by Parliment and Westminster Abbey. Then, we found out we forgot a bottle opener, so we asked some locals playing “football,” not soccer ;), and we hung out with them the whole rest of the night. Oh look at the power of a bottle opener!
The magic of Greece made me feel powerful for this sunset. I felt like I was looking into the eyes of Mother Earth and telling her that I was thankful she gave light to this place. I felt the spirits of the ancient Greeks, and the whisper of Poseidon.
We hung out with these guys in Mykonos until 4am! We ate at their restraunt and then they invited us to sit at the bar with them, then proceeded to make us drinks. We threw plates, danced and laughed the night away. I made life long friends. PS- Theo, the owner of the cafe, was on Samantha Brown’s travel show to Mykonos recently!!
PROST!! That is cheers in German. This is my travel buddy Kallie! We stopped in Nurnberg, Germany and had some pints with the locals…did I say pints? I meant a gallons…if any of you have been to Germany, you know what I mean!
I stayed in an old town in Paris. I saw this sign and I couldn’t stop thinking about what life in France was like 50 years ago. Or even during the wars. It really makes you think.
This is on top of the Arc de Triumphe. All I could think of when I was up there were the words, “from up here the city lights burn like a thousand miles of fire.” This is the city of lights, of love and of beauty.
