The last two weeks of my year-abroad in Germany held the World Cup of 2006. As travel between Hamburg, Hannover, and Berlin took place, “visits” to the Fan Miles were a must! Thousands upon thousands met up to watch the soccer games and cheer on their team. It was a time when the world came together as guests by friends, celebrating with friends; what an end to a life-changing year. (in picture BasÃl v. Japan)
This is a classic, yet timeless perspective of the beauty that is Hamburg. Taken from a side street with a beautiful blick on the massive, beautiful, and intricately designed historical landmark. Just by seeing it, one understands why Hamburg is considered “die Perle” (the pearl)!
On the western coast of mainland Denmark, paradise is found in a uncommonly visited location. With the melodic sound of the North Sea’s waves gliding up the golden-glistening, fine sand of the dunes, you immediately find peace. When one looks back onto the mainland, the grown grasses outline the dunes. Atop one of the larger mounds, sits a timeless lighthouse.
The classic picture that comes to mind when one says “Deutschland”. Neuschwanstein (New swan stone castle) is a dreamlike masterpiece that when visited, gives anyone goose bumps. With the fog from the Alps, to its outlooking position, the castle is the symbol for Fantasy. This picture was taken from King Ludwig’s family’s residence, Hohenschwangau, just on the other side of the valley.
