Spring Break Photo Contest Submissions
We were at Namtso Lake in Tibet, August 2007, when we saw this beautiful bride and her husband, dressed in wedding dress and costume (and with photographer in tow) walk toward a yak dressed for photo shots (touristy stuff). She climbed on top and with husband watching her the photographer starts clicking away. My husband, Michael Bender, took this shot. Namtso Lake is the highest lake in the world.
We’re with our Tibetan tour guide when we stop to visit his mother-in-law and little nieces. There is no driveway to their home so we stop there on “The Friendship Highway” coming back from seeing Mt. Everest. The family runs out to meet us and we sit on the side of the road having milk tea and hard boiled eggs.
This picture is of a little girl from Anji. We were invited to the 1st Annual Bamboo Trade Fair and she was one of many children performing for the audience.
At base camp you have a choice as to sleeping in an old monastery or in Tibetan tents owned and run by families. There are a slew of them to choose from and all provide different things. We use to live in California so we loved this one from the get go but take note of the what’s written on the tent to the right.
After waiting to see the mountain it finally came through. The fog lifted and this is what we saw. Isn’t it magnificent?
