A much deserved break...

This is me kickin back and getting some sun after sand duning to the coast…It felt so good to discard my combat boots and just go barefoot! The Arabian Gulf (formerly the Persian Gulf) was breathtaking and oh-so-blue.

Christmas in QATAR

Here is the Christmas tree between the American flag and the National State of Qatar flag…...This was all on post…And then there’s some guy watering it…

Friends

The museum in Munich was amazing. We wandered aimlessly for a few hours taking in masterpieces of the greats. Van Gogh, Monet, Rodin, Degas…the list was VIP all the way. The pair of us were amazed we were permitted to take pictures! The opportunity was not wasted as we proceeded to catalogue our faves. One painting, in particular, was very intriguing, almost scary. It was the perfect photo-op for one of my friend’s many humorous poses. I tried to play photographer and position him just right. I inched him closer and closer. The second I pressed the button on my camera, Lance bumped into the frame, setting off the alarms. Calm, cool, and collective, we briskly escaped the museum fearing the SS was hot on our tail. It was no use; we lost all composure dying laughing and rushing at a gallop. We rendez-voused with another cohort of our’s at a nearby pub and drank merrily of our German beer. After all, it was 12 O’clock somewhere.

Like most partners in crime, Lance and I are constantly on the look out for another adventure. We are both Louisiana college students and Army Reservists. We travel where the government tells us to. Sometimes, we luck out and get to venture to Europe. Other times, however, we get sent to Kuwait and Iraq with a few days in Qatar. Lance and I have learned to adapt to the cultures we are thrust upon by picking up some of the language and local customs.

We love each other’s company and have the best of times wherever we go. We explore everything there is from hole-in-the-wall bars, where nobody knows our names and we bring down the house on Karaoke night, to Amish country in rural Wisconsin, where we’ve navigated one of the Beachy ordnung communities and tried 10 year old cheddar. (By the way, if you have a chance to try 10 year old cheddar….don’t.)

We enjoy the outdoors even in the worst of climates. Recreation in 120 degree weather isn’t easy, but it doesn’t stop Lance and me from having fun. With that in mind, we think it is high time that we get to travel to a far away land on vacation, unrelated to work, and enjoy everything it has to offer.

My Going Away Party on Bourbon Street w/ the Law!!

This is me and Landreneau Rockin Bourbon St. for my going away party weekend in New Orleans. There was about 15 of us and we had the best time ever! I’m holding my lovely pimp cup….beware of the hand grenades. You’ll know what I mean when you go there.

Bavarian Locals

Here is me with two very nice German locals. They really didn’t speak much English but they took a photo with me anyway. Thanks to my peeps in Germany!
