I went to Istanbul for spring break 07 to visit some of my friends. We visited Taxim, Besiktas and other places that I can’t remember the spelling for. Here is a little taste of my experience.

My friends and I in front of the Blue Mosque. The second biggest Mosque in the world. It was the largest when it was built so they added parts on to Mecca to make sure it was smaller.

On our way to the Blue Mosque. As you might notice that it has 6 pillars instead of 4 like normal mosque styles. I believe the story there is that the King told the architect to put 4 pillars but in the architects language the word for 4 sounded like 6 so he built 6. Luckily the King thought it looked nice.
on the Bospherous River. This River seperates the Asian side of Turkey from the European side. We crossed it just about every day. A lot of people use the ferry. The breeze is amazing. Some people throw food as the birds and the birds catch it in the air.
