My photo album
My best travel buddy and roommate is the fabulous Ashley. We have been on many adventures, but my unlikely favorite has got to be our 2008 New Years Eve Excursion.
We decided to go to Las Vegas on a whim. I booked my flight to Vegas from at Midnight on the 31st and was inVegas by 9am.
Opon landing, Ash meets me at the airport and we promptly begin our five hour tour down the famous strip. Vegas is amazing. We bow to Vegas. We gambled, started sipping on daiquiris at 12pm. By 5pm, we were back to our suite at Mandalay Bay we were sharing with about 10 other college students that we vaguely knew.
We left around 10pm for the Nightclub Tabu. We proceed to run half naked down the strip to MGM. We didn’t bring coats, because at the time we thought they would “get in the way.” Idiots. Even though Las Vegas is in the desert, it still dips into the 10’s at night. It was around -10 degrees that night.
On our way into the MGM we encounter a very drunk Brazilian wearing sunglasses. We decide to adopt him. To make things better his name is “Ricardo”, but he is only 20. We love him. We take him with us to Tabu and try to get him in. No dice. Too bad. Bye bye Brazilian…
After Tabu, we leave and run half naked AGAIN down the strip. It has gotten colder, but we have gotten faster. We get a lot of “arent you cold”, “the parties this way” and some “you are crazy” comments from the party goers lined up to see the fireworks.
Back at our suite were cold, but still in high spirits. We decide we should see the fireworks. The fireworks are spectacular. There is only one thing to do now. Eat.
Sitting down at the nicest restaurant in Mandalay Bay we relive the crazy night over fried foods. That is the best way to ring in the New Year.
By 4 am, Ashley has found a spot on a bed and I am passed out next to a window on looking the strip, laying on 5 cushions from the couch. Its a beautiful view. This city does not sleep. I embrace that, but for now I will sleep, for us both.
Vegas.
Our most spontaneous adventure.
For now.
