Friends

Jason and I have been friends for about 9 years and we some how seem to always find ourselves involved in ridiculous and crazy situations. This past summer we embarked on a two week Mediterranean romp that included clubbing in Barcelona, getting lost on the Canary Islands and chasing monkeys around the top of a mountain in Gibralter. My story begins on Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands. We decided to wander around the city of Santa Cruz in order to immerse ourselves in the rich Spanish culture. In the process of “immersing” ourselves we got completely lost and ended up in the back alleys of Santa Cruz, with no concept of where we were or where we needed to be. So what did we do? We ended up walking for for a few miles in one direction, until we found ourselves looking at a beautiful “black” beach. The sand of the beach was all black, because it was made from volcanic ash and lava. The two of us still had no idea where we were, but we didn’t care because we were looking at a gorgeous beach with the sun dancing just above the horizon. It was a very picturesque moment that I’m glad I experienced with my best friend. I’m looking forward to many more adventures with him. — “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” -Mark Twain
