Friends

Ever since our fateful study abroad trip to Kenya, Paul and I have been inseparable best friends. Well except for the tiny fact that we now live in different states, which is just a convenient excuse to travel more! Even so, we are still like two peas in an ipod(it’s the technology age!) and are also known as the original dancing duo, partying pair, public transit twosome, dorm sleeping duet, I-will-eat-anything-not-alive traveling team!!! I’m fortunate to have such an adventurous traveling partner because Paul climbs anything, talks to anyone, tastes everything once, and never forgets his deodorant (but always his socks!). During our African adventure we climbed Mount Kenya, did falconry with an eagle, danced with the Maasai, used a bucket of water for showering, bartered for goods at the Nairobi markets, snorkeled in the Indian ocean, and should have been killed numerous times in horrible automobile accidents that we somehow managed to bypass at the last possible moment. One night while camping at the foot of Mt.Kilamanjaro, we spent 6 hours on the roof of our vehicle hiding from a hyena someone spotted; only to find out later that the hyena was actually our guide’s pet dog! Since our safari days we have traversed most of Western Europe including snowboarding the Swiss Alps, “Tube”ing throughout London, Czeching out Prague, dancing Flamenco with Spanish gypsies, fox hunting in Ireland, and causing mischief in Amsterdam! If we had the world our way, our closets would be suitcases, we’d trade our cars for a plane, all of our toiletries would be travel size, and we’d end every adventure knowing we were on our way to another. Paul and I are the original traveling team! We willingly waive birthday gifts and instead surprise one another with a trip to somewhere new, whether it is camping in the wilderness or exploring a new city. Maybe this year we can celebrate our birthdays down under!
