Friends

Many things in my life have changed since I met my husband, Joshua, in 2003. Most importantly, I started traveling, something I always had a desire to do but never took the plunge, merely out of economic circumstance. We met in South Africa, and since then we’ve traveled together to Costa Rica, a few major cities in the US, and even had the chance to visit Bangkok and Hong Kong. This picture was taken at Tower Bridge, London. I cherish this trip because it came at a time when we both relished it (we were apart for a year because I was waiting in South Africa on a visa for the USA to be back with him there). Since I couldn’t come to the USA yet, he took a week off from school to reunite with me in London. This was the highlight of my time away from him, as well as my first taste of Europe.
We explored the city more than I would have on my own. Our walks through the streets of London were great fun. We’d catch trains to and fro to the various places like Camden to browse the markets there and take a stroll down Portobello Road. We’d enjoy something simple as a cup of coffee at Victoria Station and just be in the moment together. I remember having a feeling of complete bliss wash over me then. At one point we ended up missing the last train back to our place, which meant we had to walk back for quite a long distance. I find that those are the best moments though, the unplanned. He is a great travel partner, always inspiring me to go places I normally wouldn’t go. Traveling is made better by being with people who share the joy of it with you and those moments become beautiful memories for later in life.
