06.08.08: Bao & I at YuYuan Garden 豫园, located in the center of the Old City in Shanghai. The garden was established back in 1559 during the Ming Dynasty.
It is now transformed into a historic landmark filled with shops & small eateries.
On our way to Yuyuan Garden, we first stopped at the People’s Square Park. Found an amazing lotus pond in the middle of the park!
The flowers were blooming, with the soothing breeze brushing through your hair….....
Bao bought me a huge Totoro toy, a popular Japanese cartoon character! still at the People’s Square
Our cab dropped us off right outside Yuyuan, and immediately we are surrounded by historic Chinese buildings! or at least, malls built with similar architecture style. That’s a jewelery mall behind me selling gold jeweleries.
Now, this guy is SIMPLY AMAZING! He can cut a paper silhouette of you in 60secs, all you do is sit in front of the booth and set your timer ;) Complete with a dark shadow outline! He’s also been invited to several exhibitions / shows around the world :)
Time for some local street snack!! NanXiang Steamed Buns is a MUST HAVE when you visit YuYuan, over 50 years history and there’s always a huge line! You can get 10buns for approx. 20RMB = USD$3 only.. amazing food!
Another must-have snack at Yuyuan garden, rice balls filled with black sesame that originated from NingBo. I actually went to Ningbo later with my family! check out the other album ;)
yummy meat pastry that was rice across the NanXiang steamed buns, only 2RMB a piece….. you can literally have a filling meal in China for less than USD$1 , and it will be GOOD food!
