Steph and I have known each other for almost five years. We met our freshmen year in college and soon learned how much we both love to travel. We haven’t gone to far away places together, not yet, but we have gone on weekend road trips. While we haven’t yet explored far and wide, we do know that we share a love of travel. When we get together, we like to share our personal travel experiences and plan trips for the future. We both love to explore new places. We go out and get lost in a new city and have the time of our lives learning our way around.
As a part of our undergraduate studies, we were supposed to travel together to Geelong, Australia for a semester, but because of personal reasons I was unable to take the trip. My not going did not get in the way of her plans, and she ended up traveling with other students at our school. They were based in Geelong, outside Melbourne, but traveled through the country. Whenever we are together and she tells me about her experiences abroad, she tries to make it as if I had been there, but I always feel as though I missed out. I have regretted not being able to make the trip ever since I started hearing her plans before she left and she has told me multiple times since coming back that she wants the opportunity to take me to Australia to show me the places where her stories are from. She loves to act as tour guide, and I would love to give her the opportunity to show me the country where she lived and traveled for four months. Missing out on that trip felt like missing out on an opportunity of a lifetime. Now that I realize that it wasn’t just a once in a lifetime chance, I just have to find a way that she and I will be able to travel to the land down under together.
