My boyfriend decided to be romantic so we rented a row boat in the Parque Alameda in Quito, Ecuador. The lagoon-type body of water where we rowed the boat reminded me of something at Disneyland. There was a bridge; it was baby blue with very rounded corners.

Welllll… my boyfriend has never rowed a row boat in his life. At some point we were going to hit a wall where 6 little boys were fishing with a contraption made out of a hanger and pantyhose. We asked them if they could please push our boat away from the wall. They did, after 4 of them had jumped, yes, jumped, into the tiny row boat. They proceeded to take the oars from my boyfriend and yelled directions at each other. They took the “gringos” to land and after getting out of the boat said, “Sofia, buy us something!”, which we did.
