Where the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Articles of Confederation were signed. The only original item in the room is the chair in the back. The seat was where George Washington presided over the delegates. There is a sun painted on the chair, concerning which Benjamin Franklin commented, “I have often…in the course of this session…looked at that…without being able to tell whether it was rising or setting; but now at length I have the happiness to know that it is a rising and not a setting sun.”
How amazing to stand in the room where our nation was born!
