Lauren is by far my favorite travel buddy. We met on a late night flight to Australia in the summer of 2006 and have been best friends since. Whether we were road tripping along the Great Ocean Road or enjoying one of those amazing 16 hour plane rides, we always made even the not so pleasant situations more fun and exciting. One of our not so smart or pleasant memories happened while we were staying in hostel in Sydney. Before getting to bed early so we could catch an early morning flight, we decided it would be a great idea to shower the night before. When we left or room wearing nothing but our towels and carrying our shower caddy we failed to take the room key with us. Returning to our room a few minutes later we were surprised when we found the door locked. The office was closed and our ‘roommates’ for the night were nowhere to be found. For the following two hours we were forced to sit and wait in the overly crowded common living room of the hostel wearing nothing but towels. I thought it was a lovely way to greet all the new travelers passing through the Sydney area!
