Friends

The best person to travel with is definitely my friend Alexa, especially when we are traveling to Las Vegas to celebrate our 21st Birthdays, which both happen to fall on April 1st, or more commonly known as April Fools Day. Alexa and I have been best friends since we met sophomore year of high school, but our travel adventures commenced after we turned 16 (together), got cars at 17 (together), and we were given some freedom at 18 (together). We began road tripping to nearby college towns to visit our friends on the weekends. Not only did these road trips teach us valuable lessons about being responsible travelers, they showed us that we could have a good time anywhere we went as long as we were together. After high school, Alexa and I moved away from each other, but would often road trip to spend time with each other in our respective locations, and of course to other places to visit our many friends scattered all over Washington state. (I have to put this in here… as I am typing this, the song “Land Down Under” by Men at Work just came on the radio. It is a sign that I am meant to win this trip!) Back to my story, Alexa and I turned 21 on April 1st, 2007 and like I said, we spent the weekend in Las Vegas. We had a blast! We explored the strip, went shopping, did the VIP thing, saw cirque du soleil’s “Love”… basically had the time of our lives, but then we got home and immediately decided we need to go somewhere else. We have been talking about going to Australia for MONTHS! We both want to see that part of the world, we both love to travel, and it would by far top the list of our adventures together. So there it is multiple reasons (and strange phenomena) for why we need to win this trip- we share April Fools Day as our birthday, we have been talking about going to Australia for months, but most importantly… “Do you come from a land down under? Where women glow and men plunder? Can’t you hear, can’t you hear the thunder? You better run, you better take cover” was playing in my ear while I typed this, who can deny Men at Work’s unconscious desire for me to win??
