Christie and I are both from a small coal mining town in the middle of nowhere, Utah. We became friends in our high school journalism class where we wrote controversial articles about trends, chocolate, and President Bush. We developed a passion for travel during that time. Actually we were pretty much the only people from that town with a passion for traveling further than 100 miles. We lived in Cairns, Australia for almost four months from Jan-April 2007. We make awesome travel buddies because of our mellow, “no worries” attitude. Twice we ran out of gas in our little borrowed truck. Once we had to walk 3 miles home in the pouring rain, and another time was when we went to pick up a pizza. We ate our pizza in the park before walking to our apartment, and while in the park I was attacked ferociously by a bird! Those are some of our best memories, we always have fun no matter what the situation! Despite our 4 months we only saw Sydney and Cairns. We have some huge regrets. We feel that we weren’t adventurous enough, we didn’t see enough of Australia, and hardly met any new people. We would love to have this 2nd chance to see much more of the amazing country of Australia and make some new flife-long friends.
