Joel and I are very outgoing people so it is obvious why we became such good friends in such a short period of time. We love to explore new things and go on adventures. Outdoors is our favorite place to be. It was no surprise to me when he invited me to go on a camping trip in the middle of November. The weather was relatively mild for the time of year, and even if it wasn’t, we still would have gone. The night started out wonderful, steak and potatoes cooked over an open fire, good conversation, beautiful stars, and spring-like temperature. Around eleven pm, we decided to take a nature hike through the woods to explore the surrounding forest. We had been hiking for almost an hour when dark storm clouds started to fill the sky. We rushed back to our campsite just in time for the skies to open up and pour on us. It rained all night, and the temperature dropped to freezing. By the morning, everything was soaking wet, and we began to hear gun shots. It was hunting season, and we had no idea. Soon after we woke up, a park ranger came into our campsite and warned us about the hunters and ordered us to pack up our camp. We made five trips in the pouring rain through the forest to the car, about 1/2 a mile each way. By the time we had finished we were soaked to the bone, freezing, and exhausted, but neither one of us cared. We had too much fun playing in the rain and the mud for anything else to matter.
