Even when we’re just sitting on the couch watching TV, it’s usually more fun I think most people have at a party. The reason I especially love to travel with Caitlin is because she finds the little quirks in places and people just as amusing as I do. This summer we landed in New York City together and decided, to save money, we’d stay at a friend’s apartment on the lower east side— one of the sketchiest blocks in the city, apparently. Wandering late at night through the neighborhood, wrong subway routes, and cab drivers who couldn’t understand us, all these moments may have frazzled even the most seasoned of travelers, while for us, it provided another opportunity for gut-busting laughter. We both bring out in each other the optimism and the heart to be uninhibitedly ourselves which allows us to better see the opitimism and especially the heart in every person and place we meet together.
