My friend Matthew C. and I met over 4 years ago at a leadership camp one summer while we were in high school. We instantly became friends. Unfortunately we just happened to lived over 10 hours away from each other. Throughout the years, our friendship has grown through the spontaneous planning of random trips to visit each other, and our other friends we met at camp. The most memorable trip in our friendship was not very far from our homes, but was the most fun we had ever experienced. As Matt lives in Ottawa, and I in a little city called Chatham, the Greater Toronto Area was our planned “mid point” for a meeting. On a gloomy morning I took a bus from London, ON to Hamilton, ON, in the company of our good friend Steph. A few days previous Matthew and his friend Devon C. took a train from Ottawa to Hamilton. During our four day stay in the sleepy city of Hamilton, another good friend of ours, also named Matthew met us for a fun filled day of romping around the streets. The trip got a little hectic when we realise two people were named Matthew and two were named Devon. We drove around the city in Matthew B.‘s beat up car, which would randomly stop working at will. After many attempts to improvise a solution, we resorted to public transit the rest of the trip. We visited a local mall, and met a crazy old man who started dancing for us with his cane. Later that day we took a short walk to a nearby park to watch the sun go down. Looking over the city we cherished our last hours together. After our amazing trip to the metropolis of Hamilton, Matthew C. and I made a few more trips to each other’s hometowns in order to keep connected. We have always planned to complete a globe trotting adventure after the completion of school. The waiting has made both of us very anxious to explore. This opportunity to travel together would be an amazing experience for both of us as we still live about four away from each other. I can see nothing better than an amazing trip to the other side of the world with my best friend Matthew. PS: The included picture is from 4 years ago.
