Tania and I have barely known each other for a year or so, but we have already made some amazing memories. I met her by chance online and we became fast friends. We eventually agreed that we had to hang out, despite living on opposite sides of the country. For her 20th birthday in March 2007, I flew out to Syracuse, NY, where she lives, and spent a week. We had great fun and she showed me an unforgettable time. We decided she would visit me in California for my birthday in August. When she arrived, I made it a point to take her EVERYWHERE that anyone visiting California for the first time should see. We went everywhere between San Diego and the central coast, and the most exciting…Tijuana, Mexico. With last-minute planning I managed to book a reasonable hotel on the Avenue de los Heroes, not far from downtown. We got dolled up that night and the plan was to hit some clubs, but I forgot a key element to my outfit: heels. We caught a cab and asked the driver to take us to a shoe outlet. He dropped us off and, before doing so, asked us to accompany him and his friend that night clubbing. Tania and I looked at each other, unsure, but immediately both decided that this was far too big of an adventure to reject. The guys picked us up at that night, and we went out to authentic Tijuana dance clubs. Neither of the men spoke English well, so it was my job to translate. The evening turned especially interesting though when Tania announced that she had a headache, prompting my guy to take us down to the Mexican bakery he owned, to pick up some pain relievers for her. We headed down there, grabbed some advil, Mexican bread, and we were off to Rosarito beach, where the guys suggest we go next. Once there, we threw off our heels as Tania and I ran knee-deep into the ocean, while the Mexicans looked on, slightly confused. Haha. Not long after, we decided it was time to return to our Tijuanan abode, and we thanked our escorts for a fun-filled night. Tania is the only person I know who could have made such a random night in a foreign town such a blast. Her and I have many memories yet to be made.
