My partner Marc and I have traveled to a number of places together and every time we do this, it gives us the opportunity to get to know a new world, but most importantly also the people of this new world and their culture. The thing I love the most about traveling with Marc is that besides being interested deeply in the wonderful places we have visit, Marc loves to explore new and sometimes rarely unexplored paths: like hiking new trails, climbing different mountains, and in general loves to venture himself into new territory. While we do this with much consideration for conserving our surroundings and respect for the local people, we love adventure. A quick story: I am a native of Ecuador and two summers ago Marc and I visited a remote part of the Ecuadorian Amazon. It was our first time there. It was a grandiose experience which merits a lot more time and space to describe than I have here, but there is one funny story I will always remember. Early one morning we set out with our Quichua/Wuaorani guide to find monkeys. Our guide could recognize them by sounds and even smells. We found five species in about 2 hours! Suddenly, we felt the winds pick up strength and our guide told us to start running back to our camp because the rains where coming. Well, within about 20 seconds of him saying this, the rain poured on us so much that within about a minute after that we were completely drenched. We stopped running and laughed and decided to enjoy this wonderful rain, which is the Amazon’s gift to life and without which no travel to the Amazon would be complete!
