Over the summer my friend and I took a month long vacation to Greece and Italy, trying to visit every city! I love traveling with Lia, since we both have an adventurous spirit. We are not afraid trying anything new. Even if that meant hiking up an active volcano in 110 degree weather! Now that was an experience. We spent our first weekend in Mykonos, Greece and were to take a boat to Santorini to continue our trip. Being absolutely obliviously we missed our boat, since we thought our boat departed at 5 pm rather than 5 am! (Of course they use military time!) After waiting at the dock for half an hour we decided to ask someone, after laughing they helped us find a travel agent. We had to book a flight from Mykonos to Santorini. It was a 35 minute flight, in the tiniest of charter planes..I was petrified! Not to mention that we had to pay extra for our enormous luggage; that we named Shrek and Fiona! (And we thought we packed light). We only had one day in Santorini and decided to do everything in that day. We picked a 9 hour tour package, where we hiked the volcano, jumped off boats into the ocean, swam in the hot springs, climbed a 634 step ‘stairway’ to visit Ia, and watched the sunset. Needless to say at the end of the day we were wiped out but we still managed to laugh the whole way home on the bus joking about everything that went wrong in our day or new inside jokes we had come up with. That’s why Lia and I call each other ‘travel buddies’, we know how to lift each others spirits, make the other one laugh, or simply not say a word and have the most amazing time ever!
