Jamie Sue and I met while traveling with Girl Scouts in 2001. We were selected to travel through Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Holland and France. I am quiet and shy and don’t make friends easily, but Jamie Sue and I connected so fast it was scary. While backpacking through the Austrian Alps I was turning 17, so she made sure to have the other girls sing the song from Sound of Music, “I am 16 going on 17”. We traveled through 3 countries and she made sure to make my bday special in each one. It was not just the best bday I have ever had but she has become one of my best friends I have ever had. We had an absolutely amazing time. Since then we have met up for several other adventures throughout the states. Each time we pick up right where we left off. She lives in Arizona and I live in Michigan, so when we are able to get together it is always special. She has been a special person in my life. Recently her father passed away and if we won this trip I would be able to more than repay her for what she did for me during our first trip together.
