The troublesome duo, Mary and I have known each other for nearly eight years. Ironically, neither one of us can remember exactly how we met. No matter where we go, if it can really be considered travelling at all, the strangest occurrences happen, and they always make us laugh. I never have a better time than I do with her. Thus, when she moved for college last year, we were crest fallen; separation anxiety inevitably ensued. Now, I cannot help but think of the good times we had together. On a trip to a fancy salon before prom, she broke her nail trying to fix a water jug due to my extreme thirst from the Florida weather and the fastest putt putt game ever played (we were late and speed was necessary for who can resist putt putt) – it was one of those where you push down the leaver, but the top had created too much pressure on the inside. We lost the nail, possibly in the jug floating along with the sliced fruit. The people after us had no trouble with it thanks to our efforts, but we will always wonder if they got a special treat along with the limes and oranges. While getting pedicures the girls left us too long. As the water temperature began to rise my feet looked increasingly like boiled lobster, to which the girls then decided to laugh at upon their return; old lady feet indeed! To top it all off, during the manicure she cut the cuticle too short; blood spewing, burning, pain. Mellow as we are, we were able to push this all aside and see the humor in it. What wasn’t so funny was the bill. Tip automatically included, the total was roughly $200. Lovely. Walking back to the car, I noticed an odd man in the parking lot. Mary urged me not to look but it was too late. He was not wearing any pants, alone, in a parking lot. Questionable. We are practically twins, our similarities are so vast- height, age (to the day, we are four hours apart), movie stars and music, lactose intolerance, the list goes on and on. I cannot wait for us to have another trip, to not only obtain more odd tales, but to see each other for an extended period of time, without the hassles of school and life wearing us down.
