If the possibility of a universal encyclopedia defining every aspect of every culture were a reality, the name Lindsey Rutecki would still most accurately define the entry “Best Travel Companion”. Without contest, Lindsey Rutecki and I have traveled the globe with open minds and open hearts to the exciting adventures that without a doubt inevitably find us. In past travel excursions we have bronzed our bodies in the warm Cancun sunshine, snorkeled in the tranquil bays of Hawaii, toured the Dali, Picasso, & Andy Warhol art galleries of Barcelona, nursed a pint of the smoothest brewed Guinness lager direct from the Sky Bar of the original brewery in Dublin, swooned over the best tasting lobster Mexico has to offer in Rosarito, and brewed a proper spot o’ tea near the Queen of England and her most elaborate palace in London, among many other less-noteworthy-but-altogether-still-a-blast experiences in our everyday friendship and lives together. However, as “tour book” as our experiences sound, we have definitely met with our share of flare and flamboyance due to hiccups that always find us in our travels. Some of the most recent: a hotel over-booking in Dublin, Ireland due to the Robbie Williams Concert for the ONE night we planned to stay. So what did we do? Went out all day and into the night and slept in the lobby for about 3 hours until our taxi came to take us to the airport in the morning! An UNFORGETABLE night in Dublin! What did we do when we got terribly lost after a night out clubbing in Barcelona, Spain? We perched ourselves on the back of an unclaimed Vespa and watched the sunrise waiting its owner to return and direct us home! The most beautiful sunrise I’ve ever witnessed. There are many more examples of seemingly unfortunate events that have enabled our creativity and spontaneity to turn them into the best times of our lives and this ability is what makes a great travel companion. These experiences have shaped our lives and our thirst for the entire world and such adventures to us might be classified under “mini-crisis” to other less happy-go-lucky travelers but it is with these trials that Lindsey and I find opportunity to venture down a less beaten path and get creative, turning a less than optimum situation into the best night that city has ever seen! Pick us and see Australia anew!
