Isn't travel about truly connecting with a foreign country and the people who live there?
The most meaningful travel experiences I've ever had have been the ...well ... meaningful ones. :)! Since I was in high school I've spent my summers in Honduras working with others who use their travel experiences to make the world a better place. The meaningful travel market is exploding, and each year more and more opportunities to work and contribute abroad arise. Companies like i-to-i (one of my favorites) have truly found a way to help people communicate with people who do not speak their own language. Just imagine a travel experience that connects a person with a world that they never knew existed, and brings them home a happier and better person.
After graduating from college I spent a year in Thailand working in an orphanage and teaching english. It was an experience that I will never forget. Every country I've visited since just hasn't compared. There's nothing like truly immersing yourself into a culture and getting to know the people who live there one experience at a time.
If you're a travel addict like myself think of trying something different for your next travel experience ... why not change the world while you're out there!?
Teach! Build! Learn! Coach! Relieve! Conserve! ... The possibilities are endless.
