New Blog?

I wish I had somewhere to blog about at the moment. However, I am about to start school again. I currently have a travel blog on realtravel.com and I am an avid user of facebook (myspace sometimes too, but not as much). If you want to learn more about my past travels feel free to check them out! Otherwise I will try to transfer some of them over here as well.

Anyhow, I'll use this blog as an introduction to my new STA blog. I am a 22 year old female currently living in Baltimore, Maryland. I am currently persuing a Masters of Science degree and a certificate as a Clinical Nurse Leader. My undergraduate degree (graduated in May 2007) was in Communication. A lot of people ask me, why those two? Does that make any sense? OF COURSE IT DOES! Here's why:

My long term goal in life is to be an international nurse, and by long term I mean as soon as I finish school and get a job abroad! I feel that the most important aspect of human life is communication- not just verbally, but in every way, shape and form. I believe nurses need to be able to communicate better than anyone else in order to help patients. We aren't just healthcare providers; we are their advocates, their mentors, their support system- and how better to do any of that than communicate? I don't know if there is a way... at least not in my opinion.

Now the next part, why is traveling important to me for nursing? Another easy one:
I believe that the more people, cultures and places I experience the more well-rounded I will be in this world. I think in order to be a good person for others you have to be a good person to yourself- and you can't do that without knowing yourself. Traveling allows individuals to take on new challenges, experience new adventures, and put yourself out there to really learn about the world around you- and in the end I feel that those three (experiences, challenges, the world around us) are what shape and influence the people we become.

Overall, I'm excited to get started with this blog. I would love to meet people with similar interests as well as completely different ones- I'm open to anyone who wants to chat.
