Before I buy a backpack......

on 6/2/08, enchampi posted:
So my friends and I are planning a trip for next summer for 6 weeks across Europe. This is our first trip like this and we are wondering how to pack. We honestly would love to just bring one backpack but it doesn't seem realistic being able to bring all of the clothes we will need for 6 weeks in just one backpack. We need suggestions because honestly we dont want to have to roll some big ass suit case through a train station or on the streets of Paris.(obnoxious) So please help us! LOL!

Actually it’s very possible! I will be going for 4 months with only a backpack. I have an extra one I could sell you. It’s red and a North Face. It holds 80L and the demensions are 32cm x 22cm x 90cm (so it’s big). There are a ton of different pockets and there are side zippers so you don’t have to dig through the whole pack. I fit my 8 year old little sister in it :). It has never been used (I just got a different one off of eBay).
Just make sure you pack smart (one or two pairs of jeans, not 6….and how many pairs of shoes do you REALLY need?) The other thing is to remember what you can buy over there. Instead of hauling around bulky things (like sheets if you’ll need them, or a hair dryer) skip it and find something over there.
