So, I've come to realize that I have not told about myself on this blog.

My name's Ian. I'm a 23 year old cultural anthropology major residing in bonners ferry Idaho (north north Idaho) In the fall and spring I attend North Idaho College in Couer D'alene Idaho. Im currently doing summer school.

I was reading this guys blog, chris.around the world. It was amazing. It got me thinking, I have not done anything important and grand with my life. Sure I got my eagle scout and finished highschool. but I need to do something. So I decided about a week ago that I am going to travel. I sold my extra car and started saving up the money. Tomorrow I'm putting all that cash into my new savings account. I'm going to use this blog as a tool to report on my progress on funds and gear and overall steps taken twords acheive my goal of going on this trip.

So, whats the trip?

9/1/2009 - Depart Spokane train station headed for Portland, OR. Couple buddies of mine live in Portlandia and it would be great to see them again.

9/3/09 - Catch a train down to San Fransisco. Stay in San Fran for two days getting pictures and seeing the town.

9/5/09 - Depart San Fransisco for Honolulu Hawaii and stay there for about 5 days.

9/10/09 - Depart Honolulu Airport for Sydney Australia. Because of the duration of the flight and time zone changes, I probably won’t land until 9/11.

9/25/09- After a 2-week trek/stay down under 'llI take a plane from Sydney to Tokyo, Japan.

10/5/09 - I'll leave Toyko and head to Osaka Japan by train.

10/9/09 - From Osaka I'll head by train to Hiroshima.

10/13/09 - Once I'm done in Japan, I'll head by boat or train or plane to Shanghai china.

10/15/09 - I'll make my way down to bejing and hop on a train headed to Moscow, Russia. I'll stay a week in Russia.

10/24/09 I will once again hop a train and head to Krakow Poland. I'll visit Auschwitz concentration camp. Btw, this'll also start my European leg of the journey. I figure 7-8 weeks in Europe should be enough to cover the majority of the countries by train and back pack. I will make sure to go to athens, rome and Cairo, Egypt as well during this period.

12/19/09 - By now the eropean trek will be over and I will fly out from Frankfurt Germany to NYC.

12/21/09 - I'll head down from NYC to boston and visit my aunt. Probably spend Christmas with her.

12/26/09- I'll head down from Boston to Philadelphia and see the town.

12/30/09- Va or Pa... I dont know. It depends on where my friend Noah is. Either way Im spedning the new years with him.

1/1/10 - I head to chicago and southbend indiana and see Notre dame university.

1/3/10 or 1/4/10 Head back to Spokane via plane and Im done.
