06.08.08 - Manchester, Big Wheels, & Other Observations

Manchester (England) was pretty much just a big town halfway between Glasgow and Cardiff. It was nice to have a couple of days off with nothing really planned (though, I won't lie, Manchester got a bit boring). It seems like the only thing people in England do is shop. Nearly everywhere I've been there have been masses of people shopping in unending rows of stores, everyday of the week. Seriously, it's crazy.
I went to a few museums and galleries in Manchester, but nothing terribly exciting. I did make an observation though, that the English must really like big wheels. There was the "London Eye" in, well, London, one in Blackpool, and one in Manchester. I get the ones in London and Blackpool - one is a beautiful city and the other is on the beach - but Manchester? The wheel was hardly higher than the buildings... Hmmmm.
Anyway, I think my favourite part of Manchester was something I ran into by accident. I went to investigate the big wheel, and found this really big screen, where they were playing BBC three, or whatever it was. There were outside benches and stuff, so you could just sit outside and watch. The weather was lovely, so I just sat and watched for a while, and for whatever reason, I found that really cool. "Top Gear" was on, which is a car show, but it was actually pretty funny. Yay for random British shows!
