My friend and I are planning a Eurotrip for next summer hopefully. We want to backpack around all of Europe. If anyone has any suggestions on anything that'd be great.
In all honesty, don’t book too many hostels ahead of time. That way, if you really like the city you’re in you won’t have to leave before you’re ready. Also, you’ll meet a lot of people along the way and if you find some you particularly enjoy hanging out with, you don’t have to end the party early either—you can merge your itineraries. Aside from weekends, you can almost always find a room just as a walk-in.
Be aware that if you purchase Eurail for transportation, you cannot book any of those tickets ahead of time. And if you are in Barcelona, you will have to wait 2 hours in the ticket line to book something that takes 5 minutes. The electronic ticket machines and the stations are not for purchasing rail tickets using Eurail. Might be wisest, and cheaper, to book airline tickets. Although you won’t be spending the entire day on the train, you’ll sacrifice a little flexibility and there’s always the possibility of lost luggage (they lost mine for 5 days).
