So I am finally back in Australia after my trip to China, Hong Kong, Macau and Spain. I had such an amazing time that it makes me sad to return to the cold Australia winter. It's not long now til the sun is hot enough for us all to be able to hit the beaches and enjoy some surf and sand. So hopefully the weather will pick up soon. Went to a concert last night at the Globe in Brisbane. It was BRILLIANT. Diesel. Aussie singer, he was so good and what made the concert even more amazing was the theatre where it was held, it was such an intimate environment and we were close to the band and it was really laid back, no more than about 75 people there, so no crowds. One of the best, if not the best concert I have ever been to. I love alternative rock so it was right up my alley!! One of the great thigns about living in Australi for a year now is having my Aussie friends, they are such great and warm and welcoming people and it is always fun because they take you to local places and introduce you to things that your international friends wouldn't know about. I feel like I have my Australian family out here sometimes which helps me from feeling homesick -which I feel very often.
My experiences in Macau Hong Kong and China were wonderful. The people were so amicable and friendly as well. It was hard gettin used to some local customs but the people really made the trip for me. Macau was very different. They sya it will be the next Vegas (Asian Vegas that is) in about five years time that place will be a goldmine and a partyers paradise. It is already doing pretty well for itself with regards to nightlife. Can you say 11 AUD (100 MOP) happy hour between 4pm-9pm at Starworld Casino bar??? Because I sure as hell couldn't by the end of it. Live music and great venues and lots of gambling is where it is all happening in Macau. The city truly comes to life.
Wandering the streets of HK at any time of the day and night will surely be a different experience and one you have to see for yourself. The city does not sleep. One place you must visit is Lantau Island just outside Hong Kong Island. Wow, what a beautifulplace. Stunning scenery, beaches and beauty galore. Between the moutain tops and the giant Buddha statues, it makes a great day out of the city.
Brisbane's weather will be warming up soon, but in the meantime us Queenslander's are warming up with Spring Carnaval. Where the races are taking off. Particularly the University days at the races in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast, wiht the first event on the Gold Coast this upcoming weekend. A great day will be had by all as we are in good company and expecting to have some great fun betting on horses and enjoying the food and drink buffet!!
Until then, I am back at Uni/Work and trying to sort out some travel plans for the next year. I am thinking: Southeast Asia, then home to Europe for a month and then off to Florida to visit some family and friends and finally California for the wedding of two very close friends of mine. The whole trip will last about 7 months, and I honestly cannot wait to get on the first flight out!!! My next and new adventure will finally begin! Til then my fellow Globetrotters!! Safe travels!!
