Perhaps it is because you always hear about "deep in the jungles of Borneo" but for some reason, planning the trip to Malaysian Borneo is more... 'are we sure this is a good idea?' that planning the trip to Vietnam.

It seems that every Western country has some travel advisory about the risk of traveling there (mostly be cause of the general 'Bush World War' and the threat of piracy). I've read as much as I can about this on various forums, and it seems that the threat is over exaggerated, but it definitely is something that will stay in the back of my mind until we leave the country.

Part of me wonders if we are being too cautious about this?

Hopefully tomorrow my boss is going to give me good news about being able to take some unpaid leave....
