Heya guys,
So labor day has passed and hence, my life-changing summer is over....sigh. I got home to my mom's house in MA last week, where I will be living for a few months to recoup, save up and try to find a permanent job abroad. Borrring, but necessary.
On an exhilarating note, after my internship ended I backpacked through Vietnam for two weeks! Pat is right when he says the cities of Hanoi (and also Saigon) are, in a nutshell, hectic....but combined with the tranquility of Halong Bay, the culture of Hoi Ann and the party life in Natrong...Vietnam has SO much to offer the student traveler!!
I love when a country has so many diverse options because in just a 14 day time span I was able to, among many other things, hike, party with new friends, go to Hoi Ann's annual festival, visit pagodas, snorkel, rent motobikes, watch a sunrise, visit a fishmarket at 5am...and see Ho Chi Minh's dead body...no, really! Since he died in 1969 it was kinda creepy...bust mostly just COOL! He had such a historical impact and it is boggling to see the devotion of how much he is still idolized by the VIetnamese today.
Recommendations: Vietnam is a long country with lots to see and and transportation is at times unreliable so give yourself plenty of time. If you are on a budget, Vietnam and all of SE Asia are a great place to wander... Defo send me a message if you need any more advice...I'd love to hear from you!
Anyways, back to Mission Findajobabroad!!! Wish me luck!
Much love,
Kristen
