The itch

on 4/8/08
I've been sedentary for a while now. My last trip abroad was last summer. Although exploring the United States has been fun and I'm nowhere near done, I find myself once again with the itch to e... (Read More)

The Burmese people themselves were amazingly friendly and receptive. We didn't personally have any trouble with the junta, but last year was a little calmer so I don't know how their tourist policies have changed in this time of crisis. Going as a tourist can be great for the people but just be careful to avoid certain hotels, fees, establishments etc that pay the junta bigtime. Be conscious of where your money is going and just travel smart :) We used the Lonely Planet guide, which the few other tourists there all had too. The country is beautiful and i highly recommend going. Don't be scared or nervous, just be smart and dont throw rocks at the police. haha, but seriously, you will have a magnificent time.

Hi Jess! I love to talk about Thailand! It's one of my favorite places in the world! I've spent about 5 months there over the past couple of years - and I'm thinking of going back again in September. Some day I hope to work over there, but for now I've just been doing the tourist thing. I've done a fair amount of traveling around the country but spent most of my time on the islands in the Gulf of Thailand. Did you have any specific questions? Like I said - I can't recommend it enough - the people are beautiful, the scenery is stunning, the food is fantastic, and the prices are cheap!

One thing about my job is that it makes me TRAVEL. And recently my company sent me to New Zealand to this place called Southland (also known as Murihiku, hope I've spelt that correctly). I'm telling you this was a paid vacation! And I really needed this one. This place is simply soothing, with the Catlins coast complete with beaches, forest walks & warm people took my breath away. Now that I'm back, I'm just Praying that my company posts me there permanently. I can just imagine walking in the Park in the City again. Aaah! Heaven!.. http://100percentpure.wordpress.com

I’M PLANNING this trip to New Zealand , and with so much choice of things to do and places to go, I think I’ll need a long long stay! I’m most excited about the great fishing in the rivers and LAKES. My friend there was telling me about how a group of them charactered this sail boat and took a weekend away at sea and tranquility - WOW MAN - what a way to live! http://100percentpure.wordpress.com/
