Hi, I am planning to NZ in last week december to mid january for 3 1/2 week. I would like to know how should i plan this trip to cover most of the NZ. I like to hike and surf and would also like to see major attraction. I am landing in Auckland. Can you please suggest me some do's and don't thanks

Aloha - I'm preparing to travel to NZ in early Feb. Looking for cheap flights and travel options once I'm there. Obviously there are things like Kiwi Experience but I'm more interested in renting a van. There will be 2 of us and I would like to pick up a third person at least, possibly more. Would need it to be automatic as my friend doesn't drive a standard and we would want to be able to sleep, cook, etc. But cheap and easy is really my key priorities! Thanks for you advice...Any bit would help.
