When I visited Turkey with Semester at Sea last fall I had grand plans of jetting out of Istanbul and exploring Ephesus, one of my dream destinations, so much history. The closer we came to gettin... (Read More)

i'm only here for another couple days and then i'm back to america. i'm studying at hebrew university of jerusalem on mt scopus. its pretty nice, only a $6 cab ride from the center of town, plus there are buses. since i've already been here for two semesters my school doesn't let you stay in one country for 3 semesters. i was thinking about going to australia or another country for my last semester, but i decided to go back to IU instead. i'm graduating this may and really dont want to be a "real adult". you should for sure facebook me- Jody Gansel Indiana/Israel networks. i really want to figure out some traveling this summer, but i guess i should first figure out the job thing haha

thats so funny you read my blog, i'm so glad i kept up with it on the voyage. after the voyage i made a scrapbook (through mac lol) and copied and pasted some of my blog and that added a lot to it. i was really close to going on sas again spring 08. i applied and sent in my deposit and everything and then reality hit and i knew i didn't want to add another 25k to my debt! i'm trying to figure out a way to do some traveling this summer after i graduate, but i dont know if that'll actually work out. i am in israel now, i've been here for two semesters and i'm going home in 3 days! this is my 5th trip to israel and i really like visiting here. i've just be doing a typical study abroad here. i'm sad to be leaving but really excited to see my friends and family. but i'll only be home for about 10 days before i head back to school for my last semester. thailand sounds really cool, and it is really close to all those countries. I LOVE AISA and can't wait to go back and see more! you know it was really hard deciding to go to israel for a year since i'd been here before instead of going some where i'd never been before. but i went to turkey and that was fun. anyway, i'll try to add you as a friend but i dont really know how that works on here

I also did semester at sea (summer 06)-saw your post on lydialagatita's "wall" you're planning on teaching in thailand? that would be amazing, i'd love to hear more about your plans for TEFL. I would also love love love to go to australia and new zealand. and i am sooo jealous that you got to go to burma! some day i really want to go to all the continents and go around the world (i still kind of regret not doing a 100 day voyage on SAS instead of the 65 day voyage, but oh well i'll hopefully get to sail around the world later in life!) anyway, just thought i'd send you a message.

hi! My name's Lydia and I recently moved to Pasadena from upstate NY. I'm interested in meeting people to share travel stories and maybe an adventure or two! Where have you traveled? I lived in Mexico for a year as an exchange student, studied Mayan ruins in Honduras, toured Costa Rica, learned about tropical birds in the Dominican Republic, saw Niagara Falls 3 times, visited my brother in Germany twice (he's been living there for 13 years!), and sailed from Puerto Vallarta Mexico to Papeete, Tahiti via the Marquesas =) Currently I'm thinking about heading down to New Zealand over winter break... Hope to hear from you soon - I'd love to hear about your travels! ~Lydia =) P.S. You have amazing pictures! How did you like Semester at Sea? I learned how to sail a tall ship through the Sea Semester program...I loved every minute of it! :)
