Good explanation. Im actually going to travel SouthEast Asia for a year in February with nothing but a one way ticket and no plan. I see what you are saying I dont want to miss anything amazing either but I plan on getting info on what to see and where to go from other travelers. I only went to Dublin when I was in Ireland, I meet these girls that where visiting California and I showed them around LA and Orange County, so they returned the favor and showed me around in Dublin and let me crash at there place.
