When you visit any country, never only stay in the resorts or only stick to the tourist attractions, branch out to the civilians, and learn about the country's culture and customs. That way you'll get so much more out of your trip
Always make a copy of your passport and other important documents so that at least if they get lost or stolen you have proof that you had them....
When I travel, always pack more toothpaste than you need, and a good pair of boots. Never know when you will be on tough terrain!
