When I visit...make the extra effort to meet the locals, in the end people are people.
Don't be intimidated by what you don't know... ask as many questions as possible... people will more often than not appreciate your curiosity!
When I visit...any country, I bring my address book. Because even though your friends and family were unable to be there with you, you can always send a little reminder back to them that they're thinking about them
Always bring ziplock bags, no matter where you travel. They're just super handy.
