If you're going to take a 3 hour cab ride, make sure you use the restroom first.
When I visit... home (England!) I always book all of my travel (especially rail, including Eurostar) before hand, as I end up spending about half of what I would pay on travel if I just brought all of my tickets in England..
Travelers Cheques are a thing of the past - your credit cards and ATM cards will work almost everywhere. Just make sure they know you're abroad.
