I lived in Mexico for a year as an exchange student, studied Mayan ruins in Honduras, toured Costa Rica, learned about tropical birds in the Dominican Republic, saw Niagara Falls 3 times, visited my brother in Germany twice (he's been living there for 13 years!), and sailed from Puerto Vallarta Mexico to Papeete, Tahiti via the Marquesas =) Currently I'm thinking about heading down to New Zealand over winter break... Ok, so I have a few questions for you about your trip. You said you had 3 weeks to travel, how long would you like to spend in each place? I haven't found one tour yet that includes both Cambodia and Laos but I have seen a few that we may be able to combine. Intrepid has some 'independant' tours that may be able to be combined with one of their more traditional tours (although, I don't feel like any of their tours are traditional in any way, which is a good thing in my mind) Since you really don't want a tour but your friend does maybe this is a good compromise. On the independant tours, everything is arranged for you along the way but you aren't traveling with a group. I'll be in touch with more information. Thanks, KampucheaEmily
