I basically did the same trip as you. Though I went from Vegas through Arizona, Utah, back to Nevada and then California. Beautiful area.
Hey Rachel! I would love to get a chance to chat with you at some point about your experience with the internship!

hey Rachel! I was just wondering if you knew how many people STA asks to have an interview? Side note: I've watched all of you videos and they made me want to quit school and run away to to Thailand.

I have a question that I think you might be the perfect gal to ask:
Was a laptop essential for your travels and do you think it will be for mine?!
I am embarking on my own travel and documentation adventure in a few weeks and am wondering if you think buying a laptop to carry with me would be better than internet cafes. This might seem like a pretty ridiculous question but, really, is dragging along the extra 5lbs. for 8 months really going to be worth the extra effort?

PS. You did an AMAZING job this summer

Hi, my question echoes Rachel's, there doesn't seem to be information on what you have to do to apply! Your pics are awesome by the way! Happy travels!
Hi Rachel,
I was wondering what you had to do to apply for the travel intern position.
Happy Thursday! :)

hi! My name's Lydia and I recently moved to Pasadena from upstate NY. I'm interested in meeting people to share travel stories and maybe an adventure or two! Where have you traveled? I lived in Mexico for a year as an exchange student, studied Mayan ruins in Honduras, toured Costa Rica, learned about tropical birds in the Dominican Republic, saw Niagara Falls 3 times, visited my brother in Germany twice (he's been living there for 13 years!), and sailed from Puerto Vallarta Mexico to Papeete, Tahiti via the Marquesas =) Currently I'm thinking about heading down to New Zealand over winter break... Hope to hear from you soon - I'd love to hear about your travels!
~Lydia =)

Hi Rachel!
You pictures are awesome! Looks like a lifetime of fun!
I wanted to ask you about the World Traveler Intern deal. I checked out the details about it, and it sounds great and everything, I am very interested. But I didn't see any link " Register" or "Contact" so I was wondering if you knoew where can I get more information and get a few questions answered (basically does everybody who applies get selected, what does the intern have to pay for expenses, what does the intern get paid, anb if it's an actual internship that has to go thru your college, etc).
If you can let me know or lead to somebody that does, that would be great!
Hope you have the time of your life! Keep posting pictures! We love them!
Peace!
~E~

Hi! As a freshman I wanted to know what were some things you did your first year of college to prepare yourself in order to be chosen as the 2007 intern. I have already traveled throughout Europe and Central America and I plan to do study abroad next year as well as a volunteer program in Africa this summer. Do you have more suggestions or insight??

Whats up! I'm taking a trip much like yours in January. I was just in Thailand for two weeks and it inspired me to quite my job and go all over southeast asia and australia for a year. Well if you are still out there I would love to meet up and party.

You put the same thing I never leave home without. Your podcast and final blog drew me into your trip to Thailand. Thanks for sharing with us. PEACE

My pleasure. You write really well, and your trip was so exciting to experience vicariously. I also like it when people comment on blogs--the writer knows people are reading and the reader gets more feedback after the original blog. It's a win-win. I can't believe I used the term "off the chain." I heard it on "Weeds" and wanted to try it out. ;)
I have traveled a lot, it's true. I got the travel bug when my dad took me to Italy when I was 14. I did a study abroad in England, and I lived in Taiwan and Prague--so I traveled a lot when I lived in those places. I married a Scottish guy so am often in Europe. I went on that Topdeck with work (which was wicked!) and have been able to take advantage of other great travel opportunties as a travel advisor (Mexico, for example).
I am keen to cross the equator...I've never been in the Southern hemisphere.
What's next for you? Do you have to go back to school? How will you concentrate?

Always good to see great taste in music... If I come up with any good traveling songs, I'll like you know... a couple off the top of my head would be "405" by Death Cab for Cutie and Ryan Adams' "When Will You Come Back Home?"
